A Hero named D.O.G.

On May 20, 2007 at 2:26am, D.O.G. woke me up and alerted me to a disaster that was taking place.  His sister "Jenny", had biten into an electrical cord that connected to a running fan.  Jenny was on her back 4 paws up, eyes were glassy, and gums white, and the cord wrapped around her muzzle and inside her mouth.  Not thinking i untangled her, and then shut off the fan.  Call the emergency vet, and was there in 1/2 hour.  They credited D.O.G. with what could of been a deadly mistake.  Blood work was performed, EKG, ultrasound and then fluids were given.

Jenny stayed overnight, continued with the fluids, anti-biotics, and pain killers.  The Vet said she was quite, but worried about the trembling, and that she was not going pee.  Trembling stopped around 10 am May 21, 2007, but still she refused to pee.  They tried feeding her, but again she refused.  I got there around 3pm and feed her some boiled rice and hamburger.  She ate some, finished her fluids and then sent home with medications.  She will be seeing her own Vet this week.  Right now she is resting comfortably.

D.O.G. was sooo excited to see her.  He did not come into the bedroom after all this took place.  He stepped in when Jenny got home.  Jenny and D.O.G. kissed and played a bit. 

Sisters and Brothers, they fight, but they are there when it is needed.

Please say this prayer along with me:

Heavenly Father, you give us so many miracles, we only need to look.  From the breathe we take in the morning, to the silence we hear at night.  You allowed Chaplain Buddy and his brother Mickey to play a role in this miracle you so graciously gave to us.  Their spirits along with D.O.G.'s judgement woke me up in time to get Jenny taken care of. 

Lord, we forget what is important in our lives.  We continue on with business, social gatherings, or complaining.  We cry and moan about little things that happen to us.  We don't take time to remember all that is important to our being.  To hold our LOVED ones within reach, whether they are Friends, Parents, Siblings, Associates, Partners, Companions -Animal or Human.   To tell them we loved them, hug them, support them , call them, listen to them, and most importantly walk with them.

Thank you Lord, for being there for us last night.  For reminding us that LIFE is a gift, not something to be taken for granted.  That each path we walk on, holds new and exciting adventures, but we must always be aware of the falls.  Keep walking by us Lord, pick us up when we need it, and thanks for keeping all of us safe within your HEART.
